Smart Expense Tracker (“the App”) is designed to help users manage personal finances locally on their Android device. This Privacy Policy explains what data the App handles, how it is used, and what choices users have.

2. Summary

  • Your financial records are stored locally on your device.
  • The App does not use Firebase.
  • The App does not provide user accounts or a developer-hosted cloud sync service.
  • The App displays banner ads through Google AdMob.
  • The App allows optional user-initiated export of data as CSV and PDF files.
  • Android automatic backup and device-transfer backup are disabled for App data.

3. Information the App Stores Locally on Your Device

The App stores the following information locally on your device:

  • Profile information, such as your name, selected currency, and monthly goal
  • Financial records, such as transactions, categories, budgets, notes, dates, and amounts
  • App settings, such as dark mode and other in-app preferences

This information is used only to provide App features, including transaction tracking, calendar summaries, statistics, budgets, and exports.

4. Data We Do Not Collect Through Our Own Servers

Smart Expense Tracker does not send your transaction history, budget data, profile data, or settings to our own servers.

We do not operate a backend account system for the App, and we do not use Firebase Analytics or Firebase services in the App.

5. Advertising

The App uses Google AdMob to display banner advertisements.

As a result, Google and its partners may process certain data related to advertising, device information, diagnostics, identifiers, approximate location signals derived from IP address, and ad interaction data, depending on the user’s device, region, settings, and Google’s services.

6. Consent and Privacy Choices

7. Export Features

The App includes optional export features such as:

  • CSV export
  • PDF monthly report export

These exports are created only when the user chooses to do so. Exported files may then be saved locally or shared using other apps installed on the user’s device.

Once a user shares an exported file with another app or service, that sharing is controlled by the user and subject to the privacy practices of the destination app or service.

  • Any information you choose to include in your email

We use that information only to respond to your inquiry or support request.

9. Data Retention and Deletion

Because App data is stored locally on the user’s device:

  • Data remains on the device until the user edits or deletes it
  • Users can delete individual transactions or other records inside the App
  • Users can remove App data by clearing the App’s storage or uninstalling the App

Exported files created by the user are retained wherever the user saves or shares them unless the user deletes them.

Support emails are retained only as long as reasonably necessary to respond to inquiries, keep records, and comply with legal obligations.

10. Backup and Device Transfer

Smart Expense Tracker disables Android automatic backup and device-transfer backup for App data. This means financial records and settings stored by the App are not intended to be copied through Android’s automatic backup systems.

11. Security

We take reasonable steps within the App’s design to reduce unnecessary data exposure. However, no device, software environment, or transmission method can be guaranteed to be completely secure.

Users are responsible for securing access to their own device, including screen lock, device encryption, and safe handling of exported files.

12. International Use

If you use the App outside your home country, third-party services such as Google AdMob may process data in other countries in accordance with their own policies.

13. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make changes, we will update the “Last updated” date above. Continued use of the App after changes become effective means the updated Privacy Policy applies.
